The beauty of nature, the beauty within is masked by the hate messages we send from screen to screen, blog to blog, post to post. The world outside of our enclosed boxes is forgotten. It is almost to the point where human connection is coming to a halt.
A world that could be filled with so much love is filled with hate, hate that tries to disguise itself through the screen of a computer. The anger that builds up within us pours out in the form of unbearable words, words that do so much damage they can drive one to take their own life, words made out of letters just as I am writing now, can you believe such a simple concept can do so much harm?
Once you become a victim, the harm, hurt and everlasting wounds stay with you forever, never leaving your side. They give you a meaning, a meaning that you don’t want for yourself, yet you can’t seem to escape the clutch they hold on you and your self- esteem.
The insanity has to stop. The madness has to stop. Unity and compassion must wash over us. Peace must come to this digital age we live in.

Haiku

Sometimes we're selfish,
And sometimes we are giving,
When someone needs help.
People are bullied everyday. Cyber-Bullies do not understand what they are doing to people. I believe that Cyber bullies do not care what they are doing on the internet because they don't care who they hurt. They know they can remain unknown to their victim. Cyber bullies should learn to be respectful. Being a cyber bully victim can hurt, unless you know how to fight back. Victims should understand that the bully feeds on weakness and will use it to ther advantage. Cyber bully can be immediately stopped by either accepting what they are saying because if they are unknown so are you, or you can fight back and stand your ground. If you are cyber bullied you should fight in a team or show that you are strong centered and words will not hurt you. Don't feed the trolls
Humanitarianism and Tolerance on a Personal Level

Matthew Higgins
John Rubio
3/1/10
English 10
Period 3

Humanitarianism and Tolerance on a Personal Level

In our modern American society many would attest that the majority of Americans are about as racially tolerant and socially unbiased as a human can be. This assumption is flawed due to one frequently overlooked factor: American disposition towards Hispanic immigrants. As a lifelong resident of a country which prides itself on individual freedoms and model ethical standards, I have noticed one major failing in our sanctimonious logic. Of course it is great that we build houses in Africa, give millions of Dollars to homeless Haitians, and raise clinics in Laos; but should we, as proud Americans seek international causes while our own nation domiciles a neglected and historically abused population?

According to contemporary estimates, our country is home to over 10,000,000 illegal immigrants, most of which come from Mexico and other Central American nations. These immigrants have put forth an incredible struggle to come to the United States, and have faced racism, cruelty, intolerance, and human rights abuses. Not all of the aforementioned factors are solely due to United States citizens. Many human rights abuses such as human trafficking and physical assault occur through the leaders of the illegal immigration parties, commonly known as Coyotes. However, many illegal immigrants who come to The United States with the hope of supporting, or reconnecting with, a family, end up in forms of slavery, or working for significantly lower wages than deserved. Whatever one’s political view, Americans cannot continue to abide with this tragedy. Even if one is against continued illegal immigration, for issues concerning economic stability, national security, or otherwise, no human should be treated as many immigrants are. Can we fault a man who wants a better life, or life at all, for his family when we have not walked in his shoes? Can we neglect the contribution that immigrants have made towards The United States through working unfavorable jobs at minimum wages? Poor, Hispanic immigrants literally make up a separate social class from that of other Americans who earn higher wages and speak English. Furthermore, homeless illegal immigrants are treated almost as an “untouchable” caste, ignored as if they are nonexistent except for utilization in significantly underpaying jobs and tasks.
In a way, this treatment is cyclical. America has been a refuge for migrants since it was “discovered” by Europeans during the 15th Century. Whether Polish, German, Italian, Irish, Chinese, or Mexican, immigrants have always had to face a somewhat xenophobic welcoming. However, citizens of our now-concomitant world should work harder to accept, and assist, others despite their international heritage. Even with decreased racism, the evasion of serious immigration-related issues is currently unacceptable. America’s quality of living is world-renowned, and we “more privileged” Americans should naturally support the preservation of this ideal. Any time that a fellow human being’s basic rights of dignity and respect are removed, a serious issue arises. Unmindful citizens should be forced to seriously consider their treatment and regard towards the incentive and value of those subject to mistreatment.
Although there is no clear, or generally agreed upon, answer towards what our government should do to accommodate immigrants, it is certain that our individual attitudes should change to better reflect American acceptance and diversity. We should acknowledge, with compassion, the existence and condition to which our residential neighbors are subject. Our nation can benefit greatly from the teachings of tolerance and equality, and improved awareness towards the situations of our compatriots could help us better understand issues both national and international as a whole. Our society has progressed far beyond petty ignorance and mistrust, and we must work towards a mutually understanding and engaging relationship with immigrants, both legal and illegal, from other countries. Through these relationships The United States could ameliorate on a personal level, while gaining strength on a national one, furthering strides towards a more tolerant global community.<div
